Trying to work out what’s going on in civil society and what organisations should do next. Using insights for teaching, research and consulting. Currently working on several projects, including 'moonshot philanthropy' (University of Kent) and improving nonprofit sector data (MyCake). I’ve spent much of my career trying to work out what’s going on in and around civil society, and using that insight to change policy and practice. Much of that time was at NCVO, I’m also a trustee of Communities 1st (which supports charities and volunteering in Hertfordshire) and Creating the Future, a US nonprofit.Contact: karl@karlwilding.org.uk

TrusteeCommunities 1St Apr 2019 - PresentSt Albans, United KingdomCommunities 1st is the CVS and Volunteer Centre for Hertsmere and St Albans, with offices and venues in both districts. We're the result of a merger between the two organisations - as trustees, we took the decision to merge because together we think that we can make a bigger difference. I'm proud to be a trustee - and I'm also grateful. It's a brilliant way to understand what the concerns of small charities and community groups are. -
TrusteeCreating The Future Dec 2012 - PresentTucson, Arizona AreaI've joined the board of Creating the Future, run by the fantastic Hildy Gottlieb and Dimitri Petropolis. CtF aims to build stronger communities through education, dialogue and demonstration projects. I'm particularly attracted to CtF's aim to be a 'living laboratory'. I'm hoping that by being a board member I can help share ideas between social sector organisations in the US and the UK. See http://www.creatingthefuture.org/About/AboutUs-WhatWeDo.htm
