I was tasked with negotiating with property/land agents to source worthwhile projects within a set budget. I was responsible for self analysing schemes that fit the Malins Group’s criteria and acting upon securing deals that matched with immediate effect. This role enhanced my ability to independently judge opportunities against the company’s requirements/instructions and to keep positive relations with sometimes difficult agents. During my time, I contributed in an agreement over a plot that had passed planning permission for change of its use class, retail (A3), to residential (C1). Generating a great yield against the investment.

Throughout my fourth year at university, I tutored a class of 20 students who were in their first year of Architecture and Planning. I facilitated their work and ensured that architectural convention was clear within their projects. I would prompt new challenges to endeavour within their schemes in order to encourage 'process' and further thought to their initial ideas. Process work is key in the UWE marking criteria for Architecture and Planning so it is important to voice this to the new students. I would also advise students on line weights, scale, and overall architectural practice in the form of discussions in a working environment.

I have been working for Domino's flexibly since 2017. My shifts have revolved around my University timetable. Both my enthusiasm and work ethic has ensured that I can resume my job role from being absent due to academic work. This job has improved both my time management and customer communication skills.

In my second year of university, I volunteered in a local library. I would plan and prepare event nights by rearranging furniture prior to a guest speakers’ arrival. These event nights were popular in the local community and become busy. I was also responsible for the collection of tickets and directing visitors appropriately into the premise during the event. Most tasks varied, on another occasion, I was set the task of filming and interviewing actors who were in performance. This was used to make a promotional video to advertise future library events.

In 2018, I volunteered to work at Crystal Clear, a place of work which was physical and demanding labour. The job would involve keeping to various styles of property, as well as renovations to small complexes. Having this first-hand experience was essential to my growth in my understanding of architecture, particularly the functional aspects which to most are taken for granted.

This job had many tasks, one of which I was responsible for were independent guided tours. The tours required an enhanced set of knowledge and facts on the farm animal niche, which I had to revise in my own time. While giving the tours, I had to ensure I was punctual to ensure that the tours run on time throughout the day. My general management and supervision was essential in maintaining a safe environment for the children attending. From working at Bocketts Farm, my public speaking improved greatly over the course of my time here as I was regularly speaking to large audiences.
