Karlyne Félix, an avant-garde composer for film, television, and video games. “I want to write music like that!”, she exclaimed, after watching War of the Worlds in 2005. The English majors were analyzing the story structure of each memorable scene and had asked, “Karlyne, what did you think?...” Since then, there has been no looking back.Being exposed to a myriad of cultures growing up and traveling the world for educational purposes, I nurtured an eclectic taste and vocabulary for music. I have continued to work in public, private, bilingual, French, English, Spanish, and Chinese educational institutions. I enjoy creating new ways to teach and engage students in a world of diverse musical genres. During my graduate studies, I have had the opportunity to delve into several insightful collaborations from across the globe, learning to juggle the characteristic ragas of Hindustani from India with the experimental electronic palette sound from Turkey, with many worlds of folk and inspirational world music in between. I continue to expand my musical palette and explore different compositional genres. Some of my experience includes recording my compositions with professional session musicians from Valencia, Spain, holding remote sessions with the Budapest Art Orchestra, and expanding my network with various artists such as record producer Chavez ‘Big Vezy’ Parker (from the Bahamas) and singer-songwriter Abaasa Rwemereza from Uganda.I am part of a composers’ collective, UpCraft Music: A group of composers who specialize in writing music for film, television, and video games and working with audio editing and implementation.Karlyne Félixhttps://www.upcraftmusic.comwww.jwpepper.com/myscore/karlynefelixhttps://vimeo.com/karlynefelix
