After my first-hand experience with a medical interpreter abroad, I knew medical interpretation was the career path I wanted to pursue. I have been fortunate enough to teach English in Xalapa while gaining a certificate in interpretation. I started teaching Spanish at the college level in Louisville after three years in Mexico. I wanted to expand the cultural horizons of the University of Louisville's students. While also at the University of Louisville, I received my NICHC Core Medical Interpreter Training Completion Certificate. From my experience in Xalapa to Louisville, I know firsthand how Spanish can help communities come together.
