As the VP Finance, I am responsible for leading the finance function for the fund, reporting and shareholder relations. Lead financial and accounting due diligence services from sales process through completion of diligence to Canadian and foreign, and private and public, companies interested in strategic acquisitions or investments in other entities, focusing on financial services (insurance, asset management and banking).Lead and provide divestiture services to clients interested in both complete or partial sale of a business. Assist clients to understand their current financial landscape within a parent company and determine the steps required to prepare stand-alone financial information for the sale of the division / business unit. Build the financial services practice in Canada for Transaction Advisory Services. Lead sales meetings, prepare relevant and tailored proposal documentation and assist in developing the go-to-market strategy.

Provide financial and accounting due diligence services to Canadian and foreign companies interested in strategic acquisitions or investments in other entities for a variety of industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, retail, long-term care, oil and gas and professional services.Provide timely advice to clients to make investment decisions, quantify opportunities for purchase price negotiations, and identify post-transaction issues with respect to operating synergies, financial reporting and integration through analysis of financial information, including current and forecasted revenue, cost drivers, contingent liabilities, normalized EBITDA, working capital and key accounting ratios and policies (Canadian GAAP, and US GAAP).

Co-ordinated financial statement audit and successful first year SOX integrated audit of a large Canadian life insurance company, working across multiple divisions (investments, reinsurance, U.S. life insurance and annuities as well as Asian life insurance).Designed audit engagement plans, provided direction and leadership to audit engagement teams (typically of two to three staff), reviewed work performed by these teams and ensured adequacy of work performed.Co-ordinated and worked closely with EY and client offices in Asia, the U.S., and Canada, as well as non-audit groups such as actuarial, tax, and information technology to provide a seamless engagement to the client.Provided US GAAP expertise to Canadian knowledge based teams, creating a more efficient US GAAP audit.
