Studio Sessions

Launched in 2013, Studio Sessions is a series of curated, one-day salons featuring selected artists, writers, critics, and curators, and invited guests. The Sessions take place several times a year in artists’ studios or donated spaces. These events are videoed and viewable publicly online at www.studiosessions.org.For each Session 3-4 selected artists were invited to present their work and take part in an unmoderated, in-depth conversation with 3-4 selected writers, critics, or curators, and a number of invited guests. While not thematic in its approach, Studio Sessions selected the participants based on their potential to generate a rich dialogue across the works, across mediums, motivations and concerns, and across generations. Part studio visit, part salon, and part panel discussion, the Sessions were a rare opportunity to engage deeply with the individual works presented, hear directly from the artists, and also widen the discussion by considering at the fertile cross currents that form between the different artists’ works. Participants included artists Maia Cruz Palileo, Sheila Pepe, Diana Cooper, Diann Bauer, Ohad Meromi, Roger White, Andrea Belag and others in conversation with writers/critics Regine Basha, Gregory Volk, and Faye Hirsch, Martha Schwendener, Alexi Worth, and others.Studio Sessions was a collaboration with artist and critic Julian Kreimer.
