    When hired at Harald Huysman Karting (HHK), my first task was to solve HR-related problems that had built up over the past years, spirits were low and HHK was understaffed. With focus on internal communication, structure and empowerment of middle management the motivation went up. The staff went from 35 to 50 motivated employees and turnover went from 37,5% in 2010-2011 to 9% in 2012-2013.In lack of a dedicated marketing manager, I took on the responsibility of connecting with marketing agencies and create a social company profile. By tracking visitors using Google Analytics and integrating with our communication agencies AdWords effort. I found that the agency was making a poor effort and got HHK to discontinue this deal, reducing yearly costs by approximately 90.000 NOK. Focusing on social media and online marketing presence resulted in more views of our web site and and went from 150 to 6.700 follower on Facebook. Furthermore, HHK is a small company so everyone have to pitch in. During my stay I have touched upon the areas of direct sales, phone sales, customer interaction at our front desk and event consulting. This has given me good insights in how to handle crowds and on how to structure projects.

    This thesis presents the findings from a mainly descriptive research study about Chinese students‟ attitude towards alcohol and food. The research has been conducted on behalf of Arcus AS, from here on referred to as Arcus, concerning their long term goal of launching their product Linie Aquavit on the Chinese mainland market. In order to do this, Arcus needs to know more about their future target consumer segment in the Chinese market. Together, Arcus and the authors decided to do a research study concerning Chinese students‟ attitudes including thoughts, preferences and behavior concerning alcohol in general and alcohol and food specifically.
