Karsten acts as Managing Director of Lichtvision. He is largely responsible for stratagy and business development of the group as well as communication to clients and workflow between the offices. Besides development of lighting concepts, he is mainly involved in daylighting projects.Karsten received his doctorate in 1997 from the Technical University in Berlin where he researched about the use of daylight in architecture. In the same year he founded Lichtvision with his partners Carla Wilkins, Thomas Müller and Raoul Hesse. Since 2008 he has been a regular lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Wismar, Germany, and is occasionally guest lecturer at other universities throughout Europe and Asia.Lichtvision is a leading lighting design consultancy with offices in Berlin, Hong Kong and London. Since 1997 we act as an independent consultant in all aspects of lighting design and planning. Our focus is on artificial and daylight design, visual media and lighting controls.Our goal on every project is to create innovative and distinguishing designs by blending technical proficiency with aesthetic sensitivity – a balance of technology and creativity, science with art.Our design process is highly collaborative and has evolved through years of working with a wide range of premier international project teams, and we strive to continue learning with each and every project.With a global team of 30+ from more than 15 nations, we speak over 10 languages and have won more than 40 national and international lighting design awards.
