Brim Farm is a unique and newly patented semi-enclosed floating and submersible fish farming plant. My partner in Brim Farm, Øyvind Høie, has worked his whole professional career in the fish farming industry and have seen and felt the major challenges the industry is facing with too high sea lice occurance on the fish and with a consequential unacceptable high fish mortality rate as result of the many anti-lice treatments, fish escape as result of malfunctioning pen systems and lastly the environmental aspects with high level of pollution arising from the open pen systems. Øyvind had an idea how to overcome these challenges and wanted my assistance in developing his idea into a business concept. Brim Farm is still in a development stage. The uniqueness of the concept is the simplicity whereby the fish tank can be immersed to full operational draft and also be lifted to a "high-and-dry" position enabling cleaning/disinfection and "easy-to-transit" mode. To support and accelerate Brim Farm's development the company has been granted membership with the incubator company Aksello AS who has provided valuable support to the start-up and contributed very much with their specialist competence in early-stage development of businesses.

System integrator and supplier of ship power, automation, communication and navigation systems

Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) is a company designing and delivering complex electric power drive systems, automation-, communication- and navigations systems. Their specialty is system integration, i.e. that the various sub-systems are communicating well and seamless and delivers trouble free operations for the operators. For me this was a management for hire assignment where NES needed an interim managing director until a new permanent MD was found. The company is located with it's head office in Bergen and sub-offices in Aalesund and Egersund. In 2022 a new daughter company was started up in Istanbul to strengthen the presence in Turkey and support operations with the vast number of yards present there.

The corporate management of the shipyard requested my assistance to finalise the construction of 3 x Life Fish Carriers and 2 x Special Offshore Vessels (SOV) for the offshore wind turbine industry. At the same time the shipyard needed to restructure operations from being a new vessel construction yard to a ship repair and conversion yard. This implied a reduction in staff of approximately 60%.

Hareid Group is a corporation operating within electrical engineering, production and construction shore based as well as maritime based. In addition Hareid Group runs a retail operation within electrical appliances (Elkjøp) present at 4 locations.

Kleven Maritime, operating two shipyards in Norway - the Kleven Shipyard and the Myklebust Shipyard. Historically one of the leading shipyards in Norway with a wide range of references - offshore vessels of all kinds, fishing vessels, ro-paxes, chemical carriers, bulk carriers, reefer vessels, yachts etc. When I took helm they were in process of constructing a six vessel series of anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) and two Ro-Paxes. Kleven had suffered heavy losses on these projects and had recently restructured the balance sheets in 2017. This proved not to by sufficient and a new restructuring process took place where one of the shipowners acquired all the shares in the company. Their sole interest was to finalise their project at the shipyard.

A shipping managment company working primarily with vessels operating in the offshore vessel service sector. The company manages corporate owned vessels as well as vessels owned by third parties.

COO for the Shipbuilding area in Ulstein. In this BA there are two business units, Ulstein Verft and Ulstein Elektro Installasjon with alltogether abt. 480 employees.

This shipyard has specialised in design, engineering and construction of all types of advanced offshore vessels such as; Platform Supply Vessels (PSV), Anchor Handling Towing and Supply Vessels (AHTS), Large Offshore Construction Vessels (OCV), Inspection-Maintenance and Repair Vessels (IMR) and Seismic Research Vessels (SRV). The shipyard presently employed some 400 own workers. Additionally Ulstein Verft had some 200-300 representatives of subcontractors on own site. The majority (80%) of hull construction work was subcontracted to foreign shipyards. Develop and implement a new methodology for production planning, inherited from Toyotas Lean Manufacturing; better enabling accomplishment of the construction of demanding projects of State of the Art and one of a kind type vessels.6. Introduction of, and development of DNV’s Nauticus Construction in Ulstein Verft’s planning, control and project follow up and reporting system 7. Since 2007; shows record breaking financial results in Ulstein Verft.During my time in Ulstein I was ultimately responsible for contracting and delivering some 20 vessels to both domestic and international owners.

Contracting/Delivery of:Sixteen 37.500 DWT stainless steel chemical/product tankers with the Kværner/Kleven Group in Scotland and Norway, Four 6000 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers with Szczecin Shipyard in Poland,Eight 40.000 DWT stainless steel chemical/product tankers with Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa in PolandTwelve 45.000 DWT coated chemical/product tankers with Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk in Russia. This project was cancelled due to excessive delays.One 4000 DWT chemical/product tanker with Keijin shipyard in Jiangdu in ChinaDept. responsibilities: All matters related to the fleet renewal for Odfjell, such as:Making accessments of possible shipyard shortlisting to construct vessels for Odfjell. Negotiations of contracts, technical specifications, drawing approval etc. Approval of equipment suppliers for vessels under construction. Establishing and managing the site teams at newbuilding yards.Mobilising of vessels, hereunder to establish and implement the vessels’ on-board PMS (Planned Maintenance system) integrated with the head office’ purchasing system to secure that the vessels could immediately after delivery operate to requirements set forth by the Solas ISM code.Responsible for following up the guarantee period on each newbuilding. Development of all new projects as well as bigger conversion projects for Odfjell. Evaluation of specifications for time chartered vessels for Odfjell. Working in close relation with Chartering and Operations as well as Ship Management and other affiliated integral services in Odfjell.
