Senior Technical Project Manager

In this position I am handling project with high attention, as it has an impact on the LEGO brand and quality. Within this lays the quality issues that has a short or long term negative impact on the customer satisfaction for the LEGO play experience. With my technical background and knowledge in LEGO, I created immediate overview and was able to involve the right specialist, so that the "Incident" could be handled thoroughly and as soon as possible. Besides this I was heading up an outsourcing project, to enhance LEGO site capabilities and secure a more flexible production platform.

As manager to a dedicated team of 11 employees, where two of them were situated in Hong Kong, I was responsible for the development of the team and securing we worked in the strategic direction set. Before I took over the team, organisational change had been made, so the first things on the agenda was change management and capability building. Through LEAN management my team and I successfully reduced the number of loops within the approval process of the new moulds. We achieved a shorter and faster approval which shortened the lead time and reduced the cost for the moulds. The focus areas for me was:- Capability building- LEAN activities- Product safety- Process optimisation- Stakeholder management

As Technical Lead in "Part Design" I was responsible for the technical product development for LEGO elements, in various themes. The responsibility stretched from the design fase, through component teams, process development and finally until the element were moulding in production. Stakeholder management was one of the key competences and essential, to ensure that the design, IP partners, internal and external guidelines, design for manufacturing and product safety approval, were evaluated and documented. In this position I were indirect manager for a fantastic energetic team of 4 people.

A new commodity team for Cranes and Installation Services was formed and I was recruited as Global commodity manager with the main task of aligning all the activities currently running within the area and optimizing it. As global commodity manager is am responsible for Siemens designed Transportation and Lifting Equipment world wide, with a purchasing volume of a 3 digit million DKK value. The main responsibilities I had were:Building strong interface with internal customer and engineers, to meet demand and critical lead timesContract negotiations with suppliers domestic and internationallyCreating and implementing long term global strategyReducing cost for materials via negotiations and product optimizationSecuring strong competitive supplier base, which complies with all quality standards and technical levels neededOverall responsible for developing suppliers so that they comply with ISO9001 and DS/EN3834 certification. Direct manager for procurement team and indirect manager for commodity team.

As a part of the Yaw Group I had the technical responsibility for approving suppliers, being representative of the commodity team in daily basis and being engineering representative at suppliers world wide. On sites around Europe I had the responsibility of executing Analysis, statistical research and turbine inspection to find root cause analysis for turbine errors. One of the tools used for this was six sigma, which I have received training in as a green belt.

The internship ended in January but I continued as a freelance for 4 month during various drawing on equipment produced at Skals Maskinfabrik.
