R&D engineer, HV-TURBO A/S (later Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment now Howden Turbo), Helsingør, Denmark.Key staff member in turbo compressor, PD-blower and turbo charger development and design. This work included mechanical, system and process design works and design verification.This also included noise, vibration, strength and failure analysis, instrumentation, prototype testing, troubleshooting and development of calculation procedures and computer programs for process, flow, static/dynamic structural and acoustical analysis Responsibilities: • Rotordynamic and mechanical design of high speed rotors and gears• Rotordynamic and mechanical design of bearings • Design of lubrication systems for bearings and gears• Design of machine parts• Design of piping • Design of sound enclosures and silencers. • Design of PD blowers • Programming in-house software for design. Including developing parametric design program for units and gears, sound and sound intensity programs, ad-on modules to rotordynamic programs, ad-on to gear design program and modal testing modules• Dynamic and static FEA of machine and structural parts• Specification of sensors and equipment• Specifying alarm and trip levels for equipment• Measurements of casing vibration, shaft vibration & pipe vibrations in accordance to relevant vibration standards. Including calibration of sensors• Measurements of torsional and lateral vibrations• Operational Deflection Shape and Modal testing on compressor units• Transient analysis including the determination of critical speed positions• Sound level and sound intensity measurements• Start-up simulations for Soft Starters/Variable Speed Drives• Specification of nonlinear AVM and verification measurement• Participating in and conducting FAT. Including unit performance• Performing RCA and troubleshooting tasks• Assistance to site personnel, including fault finding • Supervising actions like balancing, alignment, eliminating resonance
