I currently work for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Sustainable Fisheries Division conducting research, policy analysis, and rulemaking for Federally-managed highly migratory species fisheries operating off the U.S. West Coast. One of my key focus areas is in researching and managing new commercial fishing gears that sustainably harvest swordfish while reducing impacts to marine mammals, reptiles, and protected fish species. I also work on stakeholder outreach and public engagement through the Pacific Fishery Management Council process and other arenas.

Conducted policy analysis and rulemaking support for HMS fisheries in the Pacific Ocean. Projects included economic analysis of West Coast swordfish fisheries; preparation of NEPA documents for exempted fishing permits and authorization of new gear types; and drafting and editing of Pacific Fisheries Management Council reports, Federal Register Notices, internal memorandums, and more.
