This project involves globalization and harmonization of transportation process across the globe for the Merck Business.As part of this project deployed SAP Transportation Management for manufacturing sites and regional distribution centers of Millipore Sigma - US • Have done integration between ECC and TM. • Designed transportation planning based on global template. • Delivered solutions on freight charges, dangerous goods split, package builder, shipment cockpit, TU integration and HBL building rules. • As part of design, given option for the customer to select expedited shipping on additional freight cost. • Integrated these sites with third party system – XPS which calls the carrier server to fetch the charges based on the contracts , this has reduced the work of rate table upload and zone determination from Sigma .Also the XPS integration has increased the visibility , traceability and accountability by the carriers. • Have developed collect process – in which the customer preferred carrier is given preference over the sigma carriers, also in this scenario the customers are billed directly by the carrier for the freights and not by Sigma. • Designed pack for export process in case of international shipment where they are treated similar to domestic scenario. • Segregation rules for products packaging based on the property of the materials has been defined in TM. • In case of FedEx/UPS, the standard label from the FedEx/UPS server through RFC call is printed. This has reduced the time spent by the site workers on the label printing which in turn has increased the productivity. • Delivered solution on least cost logistics for the freight absorbed customers. • Built analytical tools for the freight comparison based on the historical data and the carriers

This project involves development of carrier determination process for replacement of routing manual, charge calculation and rate shopping along with packaging of materials (Handling units) There would be a continuous process improvement for betterment of freight distribution among carriers based on customer requirement.
