About Karthik Boddapati
I am a mechanical engineering graduate student at Purdue University West Lafayette. I work at the Programmable Structures Lab under Prof. Andres F Arrieta. My work involves the design and analysis of multistable structures for aircraft/automotive morphing and energy harvesting. I completed my Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad in 2019 and received my Master's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2022.I also interned at the Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio) in the summer of 2018 under the Research Internship for Young Academics (RIYA) program. During this internship, I worked with Prof. Soheil Soghrati at the Automated Computational Mechanics Laboratory (ACML) on the image-based reconstruction of heterogeneous material microstructures.Apart from research, I gained industrial exposure while working as a summer intern at the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to develop a proposal for setting up an aerospace and defense incubator in Hyderabad, India. I also briefly interned with the United Way of Hyderabad to create promotional videos and picture catalogs for brand development and outreach. Apart from my immense interest in mechanical engineering research, I also love cooking, traveling, hiking, and adventure activities.
