I co-founded Muse Biomedical as part of the i4 competition held by the joint UNC/NC State department of Biomedical Engineering. We are focused on reversing the alarming rise of opioid abuse in the U.S. Implementing a power-to-the-patient approach, we are iterating on a prototype that monitors how prescribed opioids are affecting the body in real time and relays this information to the patient, their doctor, and their loved ones. We have earned over $10,000 in the i4 competition as finalists and are actively seeking small grants to continue our research and development. Personally, I have worked on developing and testing our sensors, processing bio-signals into an opioid response index (ORI), consulting with health-care experts, and pitching our ideas to local investors.

Semester-long accelerator program focused on startups in the RTP area

- Coordinated between the engineering and science teams working on a rapid and non-invasive COVID-19 testing kit- Led competitive analysis of COVID-19 testing kit market and used my knowledge of our relative strengths to write components of research grant applications for ni2o- Designed a novel neurostimulator as lead mechanical engineer for the project- Researched EEG literature on neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and depression to advance ni2o's goal of early disease detection and treatment
