Worked in K-12 Assessment, primarily responsible for ensuring data quality on individual student reports delivered to families and teachers for around a dozen statewide instruments. Day-to-day work included managing a small team to find and investigate possible issues in our deliverables, using tools like SAS, SQL, and MS Excel. Began using Python (Selenium) to automate repetitive and long quality control tasks. Occasionally, work travel to print vendors for on-site quality control and liaising with the company through the production process.

I was elected to the position on the 2015-2016 W&M International Relations Club Executive Board, and am involved in general administrative decision-making, collaborating on a nine-person executive board for the second largest non-Greek organization at the College of William & Mary. I am individually responsible for organizing most campus activities, including: Intramural Sports, Professor Panels, Tailgates, Mixers, Fall and Spring Fellows, etc. My goal is to bolster the club's presence and engagement with the greater campus to foster a greater sense of global citizenship in the campus community, specifically by partnering with our student assembly and the main on-campus programming organization.

As part of the TUFF (Tracking Under-reported Financial Flows) team, I applied an open-source data collection methodology to track Chinese aid flows into Latin America. I collected descriptive, quantitative, and geographic data on Chinese aid flows to complement geospatial data sets produced by AidData, and improving existing limited data sets on Chinese aid. Beyond data collection and data cleaning, I was able to use the summer opportunity to develop and pitch a research proposal to work on a pilot research project using georeferenced social media data to study aid effectiveness, specifically regarding ethnic cleavages in Kenya. I will be pursuing this research in the upcoming academic year.

As the Global Partnerships & Development Fellow, my work was split between fundraising and market research. I assisted with grant-writing work, assembled information packages for students in One World Youth Project’s (OWYP) different global hubs in the United States, Pakistan, Kosovo, and Guyana to aid in their own local fundraising efforts, helped build a crowdsourcing campaign via IndieGoGo for a Summer International Education Training Conference hosted annually by OWYP. Additional work included target market research and University research in Poland, Brazil, Japan, India, and more, as well as looking into corporate sponsorship for the international non-profit organization (NPO). I was noted for my work in leading the effort in participating in the Ashoka Changemakers and Packard Foundation’s “Building Vibrant Communities” competition where OWYP finished as a semi-finalist out of approximately 215 entries.

As a summer intern I was responsible a handful of administrative tasks including streamlining the filing system, designing spreadsheets with macros to organize hours booked by consultants, and following up with customers who had fallen behind on payments. I was also provided some basic instruction in Java and HTML while interning. I was noted for my skills in MS Excel in designing legible and well-organized representations of quantitative data.
