On completion of my Honours degree, I travelled abroad and spent 8 months in the USA working as an Au Pair.

A family owned business, I assisted at the shop on weekends whilst at school, during my tertiary studies, and on my return from the USA, in the role of cashier and sales person. I also designed the layout of the second store that opened in 2012, and created the design and drawings for the renovation at the initial store in 2014.

As the sole designer for the company, I was responsible for providing all kitchen and built-in cupboard layouts and 3D renderings, under the owner’s guidance, whilst simultaneously compiling my final research paper and acquiring work experience which was a requirement of completing the final year of my Honours degree.• Attended initial client meetings to take the brief and measure existing space• Visited various new-build and renovation sites and acquired knowledge of construction principles• Modelled up the space and designed the kitchen layouts, providing several layout proposals showing different configurations and styles, based on client preferences• Visited the site with the owner upon approval of the design to mark out the cupboards, plumbing, and electrics for the builders• Oversaw the installation progress, conducted quality control checks, and compiled snag lists with the client to ensure that everything was addressed and fixed by the end of the build
