About Kasey Eaves
I've been gardening as long as I've had motor skills. I grew up on family farm property in Southern Illinois. Every Summer my family worked together, pulling weeds, picking beans, canning tomatoes, washing carrots on the driveway and then eating them under a giant cherry tree. Flash forward to me at college in Chicago eating dorm food. Without home-grown vegetables, I caught every cold and flu bug that came through school. At one point a Doctor sent me home saying, "Let your Momma feed you. If you catch one more bug here, you'll be in the hospital..." When I recovered, I came back and found an apartment with a vegetable garden. The more I grew, the more people asked me how I did it. The city was hungry for home-grown garden know-how. I started growing for chefs, neighbors, friends, skyscrapers and even Michelin restauranteurs. Chicago Botanic Garden asked me to lead demos and workshops. Beekeepers called seeking habitats. A group of neighbors asked me to help build a community garden. And so, very organically, I grew Vivant Gardening Services, a company dedicated to helping people, like you, discover the joys of their garden.
