Handled caseload of 150+ misdemeanor cases involving vehicular manslaughter, child abuse, sex offenses and driving under the influence. Managed all phases of prosecution including plea negotiations, jury selection, presentation of jury trial, sentencing.Collaborated with local law enforcement and directed further investigation internally when necessary. Analyzed forensic evidence and conducted examination of expert witnesses in the areas of DNA, toxicology, fingerprint, social media, mental health, and firearms. Litigated motions, including evidentiary hearings, implicating Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment issues.In the Juvenile Unit: Reviewed cases for formal filing of petitions or diversion to pre-filing programs. Headed division of victim advocates and claims specialists. Developed division protocols to bring advocates in compliance with Marsy's Law mandates and Penal Code § 13835.10. Drafted and implemented language access policy so monolingual victims can understand and meaningfully participate in the court hearings per Marsy's Law. Led team in development of division protocols and policies handbook. Created AAPI Elder Abuse Steering Committee, a collaboration with 5 community-based organizations serving AAPI seniors. Led steering committee in developing case coordination flow chart and best practices in working with this population. Developed the divisions' first AAPI Unit to build out linkage resources and in-language support for AAPI victims of crime.

Formulated and executed a delinquency-specific training curriculum mandated for court-appointed delinquency counsel in accordance with AB 703, as outlined in California Rules of Court 5.664 (b)(2).Engaged in multidisciplinary meetings and trainings covering youth development, racial disparities, poverty, education, juvenile mental health, community programs for youth, and carceral alternatives, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive legal education and community engagement.

Filed the Opening Brief and Reply Brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit, for Ineffective Assistance of Counsel, which resulted in the reversal of the conviction (Black v. Larson, 2002 WL 1941165 (9th Cir. 2002)). Represented a domestic violence victim convicted of 2nd-degree murder in her parole hearing, which resulted in her release.

Served as a Certified Crisis Counselor for the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center (now Empower Yolo) providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, information and referrals, and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence. Provided supportive services in the center's shelter for battered women for both women and children who have escaped abusive homes. Created the center's first Asian Outreach Program to serve AAPI survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Yolo County and neighboring counties.

Sacramento, California Area

Participated in an empirical study on the correlation between long-term incarceration and recidivism among Youth Authority (CYA) wards under the supervision of UC Davis Criminology Professor Lawrence E. Cohen. Findings were published in the book, Desisting from Crime: Continuity and Change in Long-Term Crime Patterns of Serious Chronic Offenders.
