About Kasifa Khalid, Phd

I support Wellcome's CEDI team by surfacing and feeding insights, learning and best practice from outside Wellcome. I am passionate about using human-centred design to create accessible, inclusive and equitable products, services and systems. My experiences in academia and as a life-long third culture individual feed into my passion for open science and increased visibility for researchers from the global south.Previously, I worked for Nature Masterclasses and created bespoke training content to deliver high-quality scientific writing and publishing training to researchers worldwide. I led several training product teams towards consciously applying DEI values in their work, laying the foundations for inclusive products that are relevant for researchers globally.I was able to cultivate my curiosity about the human brain by pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience. My research looked at the blood doping hormone, Erythorpoietin (Epo) and how it can protect brains from injury.I have 6+ years of experience of innovative and meticulous planning, execution and written dissemination of scientific projects, especially in neurodevelopmental disorders.
