I worked on a neurophysiology project with Dr Paul Strutton at the Nick Davey Lab in Charing Cross Hospital. I investigated the corticospinal excitability of trunk muscles in healthy volunteers using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) of the brain and recording muscle activity by Electromtography (EMG).

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is traditionally classified as a progressive neurodegenerative disease. However, recent research which shows that systems outside the neuromuscular are also affected, including cardiac, brain and vascular. I assisted in the investigation of the role of gene Gli3 in malformed cerebral cortex in order to study molecular basis of neurodevelopmental diseases, such as Greig Cephalodactyly Syndrome. Techniques used: Immunocytochemistry on wild type and Gli3 mutant mice embryonic cortical slices, visualisation of progenitor cells using Fluorescence microscopy.
