The LEGO Foundation is among the largest foundation's in Denmark measured on grants given measuring up to approximately 1,7 billion DKK (approx. 280 mio USD) annually focusing on delivering high-quality early childhood services and education based on learning through play.

The LEGO Foundation is a corporate foundation, which generates its income from a 25% ownership of The LEGO Group. Through annual grants adding up to 50,000,000 USD the foundation works strategically within research, programming and advocacy to build motivated and creative lifelong learners through play based learning.Wanting to enhance its social impact and international position as thought leader within early learning and early childhood development based on learning through play, the foundation has recently launched a new strategy.In the interim period, I have been tasked to lead and build the organisation, to enhance strategic efficiency to create momentum for a future CEO.With direct reference to the owner family, board of directors and board chair of The LEGO Brand Group (long-time CEO of The LEGO Group, Jørgen Vig Knudstorp), I have been given the following focus areas:- Build the organisation (recruit for strategic key positions and implement organisational structure following the strategic focus)- Strengthen ownership of and support to the new strategy among staff, and- Ensure undisrupted operations.

Among a group of Danish key-influencers, I was invited to be part of a group, who should ensure greater political awareness on early childhood development and its importance to drive holistic child development. This became the Danish Early Childhood Alliance (Småbørnsalliancen) basing its work I the Early Childhood Pledge (Småbørnsløftet).In the first year of the Early Childhood Alliance was launched, it has mobilized 120 stakeholders including ministeries, municipalities, foundations, teacher training colleges etc., whom commit themselves to increase the focus and enhance the quality of early childhood services in Denmark.

As interim Director Leadership Giving, I was hired in to do a due diligence assessment of SOS Children's Villages Denmark's work with the for profit sector. This included a status quo assessment, a market assessment and a change management process on how to ensure that the organisation develops in the direction of the market, - and thereby is suited to create and catch opportunities.The organisation is among the leading organisations in the Danish market. However, the organisation have on-going ambitions of increasing reach and quality of their programmes targeting socially vulnerable children across the World. Thus, it is important that they continuously develop their partnership approach to stay relevant both for the children as well as for the partners. This way SOS Children's Villages Denmark can continue being a preferred partner in the future.(I work in this position on consultancy terms through HUGINN & MUNINN consulting).

SOS Children’s Villages Denmark is amongst the five largest NGOs in Denmark with a fundraising result of approximately 40 million US dollars.As board member of SOS Children Villages Denmark I am accountable for engaging in strategic and political decisions to drive the development of the organisation to enhance its ability to reach its purpose, which is to ensure socially vulnerable children a safe and forward-looking upbringing. Based in the statutes of the organisation this is done by together with the international federation to promote the importance of the cause that SOS Children’s Villages work for and their work on how to meet the needs of impoverished children and families worldwide. Furthermore, to continuously enhance the organisations capacity to raise funds for to its social work predominantly focusing on the development world.The responsibility of being a board member for SOS Children’s Villages Denmark is unpaid.

SOS Children's Villages in Norway is the countries most well-known NGO, raising approximately 80 million US dollars annually predominately for international work, but also for their domestic project focusing on strengthening social services for children growing up outside of their biological families.The council is a widely used governance unit in Norway, which has the responsibility of monitoring the directions set and decisions made by the organization's board. In other words is it thereby the Council, which oversees that the operation of SOS Children's Villages Norway happens accordingly to the statues and purpose of the organization.The responsibility of being a council member in SOS Children's Villages Norway is unpaid.

As International Director of Promoting and Supporting Associations Relations in SOS Children’s Villages International, I am responsible for driving and developing the collaboration with the Member Associations in the 20 national markets in Western Europe, North America and Australia, which raise the majority of the one billion (milliard) euros annually for SOS Children’s Villages more than 2.000 projects worldwide. The main responsibility of the department is to engage in strategy development, enhance governance practises, and attend to key-account – and issue management. Through the work it is our responsibility to be a sparring partner to Managing Directors in the Member Associations and likewise their board members. Likewise is it our responsibility to be a sparring partner to the management team in the international federation to continuously ensure that we create a learning organisation working, which focuses on progress through organisational – and business development and process optimisation, and thereby also assisting these in making decisions in how to allocate resources to meet the needs for the federation best possible. As it is a new position as a consequence of an international restructuring of of the federation, I have been responsible of establishing both the department’s infrastructure as well as a new key-account management approach to our Member Associations.In the first year, I have managed to build the department and develop a market focused approach, which leaves room to both run assignments within standard processes as well as engage in specific challenges and customise a process around these, when need before placing them back in daily operations. This has lead to a remarkable lift in capacity to collaborate across the federation. Furthermore, the new approach enhance a performance culture to ensure goal orientation and efficiency.(I worked in this position on consultancy terms through HUGINN & MUNINN consulting)

As part of SOS Children's Villages Denmark's top management team, I play and active part in the organizational development and change managment, which has enabled the organisation double it's income from USD 20 millions to 40 millions within four years. In the year I stopped in my position, SOS Children's Villages Denmark, was the NGO in Denmark which raised the most money from corporates (ref. INGO Benchmarking Initiative).My primary task has been business development within relationship sales (key-account management) focusing on high networth individuals, foundations, corporates and national and international public institutions. Furthermore, I have been the driving factor in changing the Danish part of the international federation from being solely a fundraising office to a project implementing organization.I am also involved in various projects on an international level. I have amongst others been part of a steering team focusing on developing a new international cashflow database, on focusing on optimizing the position of SOS Children's Villages as an INGO for international corporate partnerships as well as one focusing on improving on how to work with education in Africa and Middle East.Besides working on a political and strategic level, I likewise work on a tactic and operational level, being the Head for the department for Programme and Partnerships. With the assistance of a total of six staff, two support staff and three volunteers, the department is responsible for matters regards to quality optimization and funding of 90 projects implemented on four different continents.Finally, I function as a global partnership manager, which makes me one out of 10 staff members - out of a total of more than 30.000 - which are entitled to negotiate large international corporate partnerships worldwide.

Working as corporate and major donor fundraiser at SOS-Children's Villages, I am responsible for developing and implementing new strategies that focus on increasing the earnings from corporate, foundations and private major donors - with a direct reference to the director of the organisation. I especially focus on different forms of CSR together with Danish and international companies. Furthermore, I am responsible for developing and strengthening the international programme porte folio with more than 80 development programmes split on five different continents.Finally, I am responisble of positioning the organisation towards relevant stakeholders and has among others been involved in establishing the Nordic CSR-Core Group of SOS Children's Villages as well as participating in other relevant networks within the development industry.

During my time the Social Liberal Party I worked as a political advisor with direct reference to the MPs as well as assigned as PA to two of the MPs (Charlotte Fischer and Elisabeth Geday). Among my central assignments was to advise, strategise and development of policies and new legislation regarding health and sexual and reproductive rights. Furthermore, I handled contact to relevant stakeholders and media in relation to the above.While working as a political advisor in sexual and reproductive health and rights MPs of the party (MP Simon Emil Ammitzbøll and MP and former first lady Lone Dybkjær) was nominated and voted 'politician of the year' in same sex mattersn for two consecutive years (2006,2007). Furthermore, I planned and carried out the biggest health campaing, Sund+, within the party emphasising an debating the public health threats of the future.

As research assistant of the University of the Witswatersrand, I was assigned to a project part-time, where I was responsible for monitoring and sharing new research in HIV/AIDS as well as related to sexual and reproductive health and rights within the developing world - primarily Sub-Saharan Africa.

During my years as a programme assistant in the department for humantarian aid and developmental assistance, I was assigned to monitoring Danish NGO receiving public funds from Danida through the fiscal budget.

Worked For the Family Planning Association’s international department on the publication “Confronting HIV/AIDS Through Youth Involvement – A Catalogue of Ideas for NGOs”. Furthermore, I spent a month in Uganda where I, in cooperation with the Family Planning Association of Uganda, did a research on lessons learned on youth participation in HIV/AIDS prevention programmes.

As a trainee in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs I went through a two year programme, working in three different departments:- Department of Multilateral Development Aid focusing on positioning Danish interest amongst others within the UN-system.- Department for Danish Export Services, which offered guidance to danish import and export companies on rules and regulations related to engaging in foreign trade.- The Foundation for Democratization (Demokratifonden). A Danish Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focusing at enhancing democratization processes in the civil society in the former east countries including the Baltic Region as well as in the developing world.At the end of my traineeship I passed my exams with the highest remarks in the history of the ministry.
