Directing the team of PMs, and consequently 5 scrum teams, who look after the Help center product within Zendesk.Help center serves millions of knowledge articles every day and is a crucial touchpoint in the customer experiences and journeys of many companies. Building on a strong knowledge base, the Help center product also involves a community, a ticket portal, powerful search, user profiles and allows for heavy customization through our SDK and APIs. In the Help center CX group we work to maintain and expand the capabilities for Zendesk customers to not only serve content, but also build richer journeys and deeper relationships.

Product responsibilities include:I manage Zendesk Gather, a community and discussion product providing online customer support, product feedback and knowledge exchange. Gather is particularly popular with tech and gaming customers where openly exchanging solutions online adds value for both support organizations and their customers. Gamifying the experience to maximize engagement is one of several strategies we build for.Permissions and authoring/approval workflow in Zendesk Guide, the knowledge base and Help Center product. Guide is used by tens of thousands of customers and is used to provide validated solutions to the right people at the right time, and in the navigational structure that fits the customer.REST API build-out and improvement for Guide and Gather products.

The two companies Human Inference and Satori Software merged into Quadient, and a new software platform was needed to host all of Quadient’s cloud data services and expose legacy features via new interfaces and to new use-cases. I was responsible for the two Scrum teams that were tasked in Seattle to build this new product line.Inventor on US patent "Parsing unstructured data to provide structured information". This patent describes a technique used in a new data service that makes it possible to extract contact information (names, addresses etc.) from semi- and unstructured text (typically letterheads, signatures and business cards).Negotiating with the PMM organization to lay out the product roadmap.Act as the interface between the R&D organization and other departments like customer support, operations, tech writing, pre-sales and marketing. Educated and implemented many lean practices in the organization, like DevOps and continuous deployment.Created a culture of technological experimentation and innovation. We brought technologies like Docker, Apache Kafka, Python, Machine Learning and Node JS into a previously much more simple organization. This new polyglot focus enabled the teams to much better incorporate legacy software from multiple organizations and get used to the fact that not all software is created using the same “recipe”.

With the sale I was made responsible for the further development of the product and its integration into the wider product portfolio.Lead developer and evangelist for the delivery teams (PS, Marketing, Sales, other dev. teams).Work with development teams in India to coordinate development methodology (Scrum) and technical knowledge sharing.Positioning of Human Inference as Visionary in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Data Quality, due to versatile licensing and deployment options.Growing the online user community beyond 10,000 registered users.

As a student I founded the open source tool DataCleaner, building a community around data quality and data profiling. The software was/is free, so I offered consultancy services around implementation and customization.Founder of Apache MetaModel – a unified connectivity library for databases, files, cloud storage and more. This project was a by-product of DataCleaner that felt more generic and useful to other developers, which is why it was eventually made a part of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF).
