Under direction of Supervising Attorney: drafted an amicus brief which was submitted to the United States Supreme Court regarding whether disparate impact claims are cognizable under the Fair Housing Act; worked directly with clients on housing conditions matters as an advocate, researcher, and adviser; engaged in innovative targeted community education and outreach projects along with other student attorneys; completed client intake interviews.

Researched case law pertaining to excessive intra-office conferencing; reviewed outside counsel billing invoices to ensure compliance with the FDIC’s Outside Counsel Deskbook; created and maintained a database of questioned billing entries; recommended amount to be disallowed from outside counsel’s fees; assisted in creating various presentations regarding guidelines for legal counsels’ fees.

Conducted legal research and drafted memoranda on various civil issues; researched the standard of review for a plea in bar; assisted with taking oral testimony for pro se divorce hearings; observed mental health court pretrial conferences and civil and criminal court proceedings; shadowed attorneys while visiting other courts such as the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
