I’ve always had a passion for telling stories. As a child, I would watch the same movie repeatedly for weeks, analyzing what I saw on screen and deep-diving into the story. I was entranced by movie magic, but I was more enchanted by the beauty of what a film can teach you. Entering college, I knew that I had not only a goal but a duty to serve others the way my favorite movies inspired me, I knew I wanted to encourage people to reflect upon new concepts and perspectives, and I knew I wanted to tell the stories of the voices in this world that are struggling to be heard.I am a current film and television major and environmental sustainability minor at the University of Colorado Denver. Before enrolling at CU Denver, I competed in digital video production at the Colorado Technology Student Association for three years and received first place in the 2022 state finals. I was a founding staff member for my former high school’s journalism and broadcasting website where I went on to receive an outstanding digital media production award. Additionally, I work for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver as a media lab assistant, providing friendly customer service, and personalized guidance to lab visitors on how to use equipment, edit footage, and produce a final film project.Through hands-on experience in my thesis production courses, I’ve had the opportunity to create powerful narratives and documentaries with like-minded creative individuals and learn how to execute my cinematography, writing, and editing skills collaboratively. It’s an honor to create a ripple with my peers and turn our acts of community service and civic engagement into media that can be widely spread and leave a strong impact on diverse audiences. I am ecstatic to continue my educational journey not only through the rest of my time at CU Denver but also through meaningful experiences in internships. I ultimately seek opportunities that will advance my knowledge of storytelling, business, and cinematography within the film and television industry while working alongside talented professionals.
