I am from St. Louis, Missouri and currently living in Springfield, MO to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. I have attended many universities including: St. Louis University, University of Missouri Saint Louis, and St. Louis community college. I currently attend Missouri State University and will be graduating in May 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have wanted to be a nurse, specifically in the NICU, since I was a freshman in high school. My passion for babies and the joy that such a small human being can bring to people's lives drives me to want to work in the NICU. Throughout the nursing program I have accumulated over 450 clinical patient contact hours at Camp Barnabas, Maranatha Village nursing home, the Marian Center, Harbor House, the Family Enrichment Center, WIC, and Mercy Hospital. In addition to these clinical experiences I currently am employed as a caretaker for an 11-year-old nonverbal male suffering from epilepsy. I am responsible for all of his basic needs including: suctioning, transferring, feeding, diaper changes, etc.My career goals for the next year include passing the NCLEX on my first try and moving back to the St. Louis area to work in a metropolitan hospital. If everything goes as planned I would love to work in a neonatal intensive care unit.
