Web DeveloperByg Systems Sep 2010 - Jan 2013Nottingham, United KingdomMy role as Web Developer involved the creation and maintenance of bespoke e-learning courses for a wide variety of blue chip organisations, operating both nationally and internationally. In addition to e-learning courses, I have developed applications such as Learning Management Systems and comprehensive e-learning portals.I took particular enjoyment in working in conjunction with other departments to create the most flexible and user friendly solutions, challenging the stereotypical and overused norms through my enthusiasm for new creative solutions. I loved the challenge of creating aesthetically pleasing and engaging courses, inspired by our designers' ideas, whilst also making them fit for use across a number of different platforms and browsers. For many of these projects I was appointed as the technical lead, responsible for the entire technical aspect of a project, from the internal kick-off meeting to development and supervision of the project's technical team. This meant I was also responsible for ensuring the quality of the product from the initial phases of the project, right through until deployment. In addition to leading our technical teams, I was often required to deal with clients via email and phone, and occasionally attend face-to-face meetings, both on and off-site. On expansion of the company, I was given the duty of managing a small team from the technical department who had opted to work evening shifts, as well as playing an active part in the development of new members of staff throughout my time at BYG Systems.I played a key role in the development of in-house procedures, in particular, being a vital player in the improvement and development of our bespoke in-house authoring tool and its processes alongside one of our experienced Instructional Designers. This helped to improve the efficiency of our course development, creating a more time-focussed and client-friendly process. -
