I supported invdividuals and families experiencing homelessness in a Supportive Housing program funded by Housing and Urban Development. I met with them to determine eligibility for grant criteria at their most vulnerable. Eligibility is “chronic” homelessness- unsheltered for at least one year- and a documentable disability- physical or psychological. Homelessness and the intersections of identities and experiences that lead to it typically cause the development of mental illness. My role was to assist clients with strengthening skills to remain housed permanently using the Housing First model. This included linkage to food assistance, healthcare, Social Security and Disability benefits, employment and education, regaining a support system, substance use recovery, mental health, community living assistance, justice involvement aid, and more. The client created their goals for recovery. Crisis management, harm reduction, and relationship building were key in providing support as clients recovered. I staffed with my Clinical supervisor and met with housing and services organizations. I was the sole recruiter for our 4 state Planned Parenthood healthcare, education, and advocacy organization. I managed the Applicant Tracking System and trained the hiring managers on their role in it. I posted job listings to Lever, LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, local non-profit job boards, LGBTQ+ pages, alumni pages and more while managing the recruiting budget.
