Kat is a Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Resource and Waste Management Consultant with 17 years’ experience in the environmental and consultee sector. Kat was elected by the members of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) to sit on Centre Council for the London and the Southern Counties in April 2019 and has an active role helping to develop and promote the center and CIWM as a whole. Kat also sits on the working group for the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC). Kat has recently set up KaNect Limited , which is a resource, waste and materials consultancy that aims to put clients and their planning needs front and centre. Kat specialises in resource and waste management on Urban Regeneration projects across the UK and Ireland focusing on working with clients, architects and local authorities to design workable, sustainable and efficient waste management strategies for all phases of the development process. Kat is keen to help develop others and throughout her career so far she has supported and mentored others to achieve their own career goals and aspirations to become chartered. Kat graduated from The University of London Queen Mary’s with an Environmental Science degree and then went to do a Masters at Manchester University in Environmental Management and Impact Assessment. Kat started her career at Veolia Environmental Services, a leading waste management and environmental services company as a Business development manager agreeing waste management contracts for Local Authorities across the UK. Kat then started at AECOM (formally URS) in 2008 as a Graduate Environmental Consultant in the Environment and Planning team as Project Manager for large multidisciplinary Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Projects. At Aecom Kat successfully built a waste management team in London specialising in environmental and waste management, including regulatory compliance, environmental risk assessment, due diligence and auditing.Kat has a good knowledge and understanding of environmental issues, including environmental legislation and standards. She has experience in waste management, environmental management systems, resource use, waste minimisation and pollution prevention; assisting organisations with environmental issues across a wide range of sectors, including: waste, water, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, construction, manufacturing, research and development, transport, healthcare, local authorities, mixed commercial, office based, industrial, entertainment, residential, marine, education, and retail.
