Kat Parsons is a Research Specialist at the National Counterterrorism, Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE). She handles a range of research and project management duties, with a focus on threat assessment and targeted violence prevention. She recently completed her PhD in Justice, Law and Criminology at American University in the School of Public Affairs and has previously been an adjunct instructor at American University, as well as Marymount University. She has taught Criminology, Research Methods, Institutional Methods and Transnational Terrorism. Her research focuses on the variation between support for political extremism, violence, and engagement in violence. Her previous research has included support for political violence and the impact of violent rhetoric, both in the U.S. and elsewhere, as well as the rise of domestic terrorism terrorism in the U.S.
