About Kathryn Rucker

I’m a California native with a BA in Rhetoric from UC Berkeley and started my career working as an SDR at SaaS startups in San Francisco. Over the years, I developed a passion for helping early-stage companies refine their market presence and prepare for scalable growth.This passion and experience in lead generation inspired me to start Kat Rucker Consulting Group (KRCG) at the age of 24. KRCG is a consultancy that supports tech startups—primarily in SaaS and hardware-enabled SaaS—by providing high-level advisory and sales strategy expertise.With a focus on early-stage companies (under 75 employees), I guide founders through key transitional phases, helping them "turn the lights on" and polish their external presence without demanding too much of their limited time.Through KRCG, I serve as the Fractional VP of Sales and Marketing for Perceptive Things and the Fractional VP of Sales for Frakxion, helping both companies drive growth through strategic leadership.With a team of skilled consultants and trusted partners, we deliver strategic direction and hands-on support across core areas such as:-Sales strategy and advisory services-High-end website redesigns and branding overhauls-Optimizing external marketing channels (social media, sales funnels, blogs)I work with clients to ensure their external presence is not only polished but built for long-term growth. We’re not an agency for basic lead gen or quick fixes—our focus is on helping startups lay the foundation for scalable success.I'm proud to say that my work with two companies has supported their eventual acquisition: as an employee at Waggl (acquired by Perceptyx in 2021) and as a consultant for ChroniFI (acquired by Acorns in 2024).I also volunteer my time as a mentor for high school-aged students through the Work-Based Learning Alliance (WBLA). WBLA is a non-profit that provides historically underrepresented high school students across the U.S. with industry-connected learning experiences, helping them develop the real-world skills needed to succeed beyond the classroom.Currently based in Los Angeles, I’ve also spent several years living and working in Southeast Asia, leading global projects for companies like HEINEKEN Cambodia.

Locally, I worked with the Sustainability Team, People Team, Legal Team, and each of Heineken’s regional brands—Heineken, ABC Extra Stout, Anchor, Gold Crown, and Tiger—to ensure the website adhered to both corporate guidelines and local regulatory requirements. I also coordinated with the global team in the Netherlands and an external vendor managing the project from the UK and India, ensuring the site met Heineken’s global standards while addressing the needs of the Cambodian market.Being based in Cambodia allowed me to engage directly with local leadership and adapt communication strategies to the local context.In addition to the website project, I represented Heineken Cambodia at community initiatives, including tree-planting ceremonies and other CSR activities that supported sustainability efforts and local engagement (links below).As part of the Corporate Affairs Team, I collaborated with the Sustainability Team on communications for the launch of Cambodia's first biomass plant, a renewable energy facility that uses agricultural waste to reduce carbon emissions and support the country's energy independence.
