In my role, I successfully completed various tasks and responsibilities from stages 2-6. These included drafting, detailing, and coordinating stage 5 subcontractor packages, ensuring design compliance with their specifications. I effectively led the design team in coordination efforts and utilized my expertise in Revit & BIM modeling to conduct frequent clash detections. Additionally, I actively participated in client-facing meetings and design team meetings, resolving sustainable design issues and detailing aspects of the project. I continuously sought net-zero carbon solutions and techniques that could be applied to the project, showcasing my strong commitment to achieving sustainable solutions and enhancing my communication skills. To ensure project success and my knowledge and growth, I attended regular site visits each month alongside the associate architect.

Within BGY my main responsibilities were collaborating with architects within the company on various projects to combine creative thinking and produce sustainable & unique designs to meet deadlines. Utilising my skills I designed and set out elevations and plans for large social housing residential schemes in London in order to submit for planning applications alongside creating design and access statements. Whilst working on various projects I was attending landscape and structural meetings with the design team in order to take the design one step further. During my time here I was working with software’s Vector works, Vray Rendering, Photoshop, InDesign and SketchUp modelling. With the software available to me I produced renders for office spaces, social housing schemes and different room layout options for company clients. Fulfilling sample order from different manufacturers to finalise products for unique features within projects. I worked on various bids and competitions for the company which lead to winning BGY the lead firm for a large project within Bristol.

Securing a place on the RIBA scheme gave an invaluable insight into one of Europe’s leading architecture practices. I hugely enjoyed my time with AHR and appreciate the many opportunities they extended to me, inviting me to participate in live construction site visits to Riverside Residential and leisure development projects, meetings and in-house project reviews. My encouraging mentor and their many welcoming colleagues I met throughout the scheme were generous with their time and shared their experience and advice in entering the architectural profession enhancing my understanding of the industry from a new perspective.

For the whole of the second academic year, I tutored a class of 20 students. I shadowed these students through the completion of their practical work and in their design compilation. This involved working alongside lecturers teaching 1st-year students. This required me to reinforce new design ideas and oversee students' designs to ensure they were feasible for completion.
