  • Dignity - Danish Institute Against Torture
Master Thesis - Field Based Qualitative Research In Jordan, Trauma & Persistant Pain
Dignity - Danish Institute Against Torture Feb 2023 - Sep 2023
    Copenhagen Metropolitan Area
I undertook an exploration of DIGNITY's Pain School intervention, working closely with the Institute for Family Health (IFH) in Jordan. While the Pain School intervention has shown feasibility and acceptability among providers and the potential to benefit patients, it lacked a comprehensive Evaluation Framework. To address this, we ventured on a field trip to Jordan, partnering with IFH, and engaged in in-depth interviews to gain insights from beneficiaries. These interactions facilitated the development of a robust program theory, poised to act as an evaluative and design framework for subsequent implementations of the intervention in the MENA region. Our research underscores the importance of cultural and contextual nuance, marking a significant stride in trauma treatment and pain management paradigms, ensuring that the Pain School empowers patients to transcend pain and trauma-induced adversities.

Bachelor Thesis - Quantitative Research Project - Major Depressive Disorder

    Aarhus, Middle Jutland, Denmark
For my Bachelor's thesis, I collaborated closely with a peer and our academic teacher, who provided us with data from the Aarhus University Hospital's Psychiatry department. Our study delved into the statistical analysis of cognitive functions of patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), during first-episode depression, chronic depression, post-recovery, and healthy controls and examined the relationship between cognitive impairments and depressive symptoms. Through innovative Bayesian methods and network analysis, we revealed significant cognitive impairments in chronic MDD cases and identified central symptoms within the depressive network, contributing novel insights into MDD's complexity. This work underscores cognitive deficits as key intervention points and advances our understanding of MDD's trait markers and symptomatic network.
