Katarina Soukup is Vice President, Production at Felix & Paul Studios, an EMMY® Award-winning creator of immersive entertainment experiences, creating unparalleled, highly engaging and inspired virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality experiences for audiences worldwide. For many years prior to joining the Studio, she was an independent producer of award-winning and enduring documentaries for Canadian and international audiences. She first produced documentaries and interactive content with Igloolik Isuma Productions, the Inuit team behind the Canadian cinema classic Atanarjuat The Fast Runner (Caméra d’or, Cannes 2001). In 2006, she founded Catbird Productions, her own boutique production company, and went on to produce feature documentaries, web documentaries, TV docs, mobile applications, and 360° immersive content. Her projects have been screened at festivals around the world, including at the Hot Docs, CPH: DOX, RIDM, Gothenburg, Durban, Santa Barbara, and Vallodolid film festivals. They have won awards and have been nominated numerous times in Canada and abroad, including the Canadian Screen Awards, Prix Gémeaux, Prix Numix, Prix Boomerang, the Rocky Awards (Banff Media Festival), and the Webby Awards. She has partnered with CBC, Radio-Canada, documentary Channel, Aboriginal People's Television Network (APTN), Canal D, TV5, Unis TV, ARTV, NHK (Japan), DR (Denmark), SVT (Sweden), Al Jazeera, Sundance, Icarus Films, The Cinema Guild, Doc & Film, Rise & Shine, K Films Amérique and Les Films du 3 mars.Katarina holds an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University (Montreal). She is an alumna of EAVE+, an intensive training program for established international producers, as well as the 6 month Parcours Entrepreneurial program of the Femmes du cinéma, télévision et médias numériques (now known as Allia - Alliance des femmes des industries créatives). She has previously served on the boards of the UPPCQ (Union des producteurs et des productrices du cinéma québécois), the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, the Documentary Organization of Canada (Quebec chapter), and Studio XX (an artist centre now known as Ada X focused on art, technology and gender diversity).
