Once upon a time there was a young woman who didn't fit in. It motivated her to search for different. She found a place where everyone was equally awkward. It made her feel safe to explore her potential. She spent evenings in the laser lab catching quantum entangled photons. It went well. Her article was selected editors suggestion. But she felt lonely, and even though she knew scientific progress is the sum of many tiny contributions she didn't experience her work as valuable. But she did love the teaching..Sharing her knowledge made her grow. By chance she found a challenge, that led to a project, that led to a company being formed with the dream of empowering millions to access the world of knowledge. An entrepreneurial journey began, which would take this lady to the mud floors of schools on the slopes of mount Elgon, and fancy stages in Nairobi and Copenhagen. In the end, they didn't reach the millions, only millions of learnings and memories that would stick with her forever.Instead, the trip of life took her to a Swedish classroom. One where a mentor made her see what she could do and where a bunch of 15-year olds made her examine her own behavior every day and led her to learn so much about herself, about openness, curiosity, trust and determination. In parallel her experiences in academia, entrepreneurship, international development and education had sparked a bit of a fire in her in regards to how our society is governed. She took a tiny step into politics which, for someone by now used to step in and do what needed to be done, ended up in a leap into a position of responsibility and visibility that she absolutely did not feel prepared for. But she grew into that, too. By now the young woman was, well, slightly older, and a mother, and thought maybe going back to engineering would allow her to let go of work and focus on her little one, and she ventured out as a consultant. Packed with experiences, she soon manged to create structure in the complex and pave a path forward for her team to some impressive achievements. But did she find the peace? No. Instead, standing in front of chaos daily, this young lady grew her first grey hair and had to stop herself one day. Stop the hamster wheel, the wanting to perform. Stop and listen, think, breath, recover and rebuild healthy routines for work and life. Rebuild the creativity and curiosity that really defined her in the first place. Now, here she is. With a career that is simultaneously everything and nothing. Can you help her figure out what challenge she should embark on next?
