I am a Marie-Curie SMASH Postdoctoral Fellow in Machine Learning at Jozef-Stefan Institute. I am passionate about data and research, and I seek to make a difference in our lives and our planet. Currently, I am working on semi-supervised active learning in the context of materials science.Previously, I was employed as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. My research is focused on robustness in machine learning (bias, distribution shifts, adversarial learning), predominantly in domains where labeled data is prohibitively expensive to obtain (active learning). I enjoy bringing my experience to impactful applications, such as at its intersection with Chemistry. My research during my PhD at the University of Auckland revolved around Selection Bias identification and mitigation, especially as a pre-processing step for a broad range of supervised or unsupervised models.Before starting my PhD, I was employed as a Data Scientist in marketing at DB Fernverkehr AG, where my work centered around predictive models and clustering techniques. I did my undergraduate studies in Mathematics and my Master’s degree in Scientific Computer Science at the University of Mainz, Germany.
