I’ve worked in innovation teams that have made millions and I’ve also worked in innovation teams that have cost millions.We used to sit around on bean bags with a bunch of post it notes and guess what products and services our customers might need. Then run an expensive focus group which we would pay our customers to attend, give them a nice lunch and then ask if they liked our ideas. It was no surprise that they often did, so we would then work like crazy to launch the full product as soon as possible.
