Hired on (through a staffing agency- Leading Edge Personnel) for support in the Catastrophe Division to handle claims from Hurricane Harvey. I worked closely with 16 adjusters and 6 file reviewers to manage work flow and facilitate communication between insureds and the company. I became the go to problem solver on the team and handled issues ranging from simple billing mistakes to handling escalated customer service issues. KEY LEARNING*Basic insurance terms and processes- as a first experience in the insurance industry the learning curve was very steep *Identifying problems before they escalate- the most difficult part was not identifying the problem but rather finding the proper method to address it

In this role I developed and honed my skills in;* Event planning and management - from the big picture to the little details* Content Development and Production - Writer, editor, designer and producer for the monthly campus newsletter in addition to multiple event-based marketing campaigns.* Problem Solving - Supporting both members and fellow advisors solve a range of challenges from finding study space on a busy day through to assisting traumatized students experiencing on campus violence.

One of five students chosen to participate in the coveted Adidas internship program. I had the opportunity to gain a deep hands-on understanding of retail operations and supply chain analysis by supporting the back-office analytics team. I undertook three significant projects over the internship period focused on;* Prior season performance analysis encompassing sales results seeking to identify insights and trends through multiple lenses - product range, category, sku, retail store site ... even merchandise color. I completed two independent full-season analyses to guide buying strategy for future fall/summer and winter/spring. * Having delivered valuable insights, I had the opportunity to work in collaboration with advanced planners to dig deeper into trends that would shape their strategy a further year in advance.KEY LEARNING* The importance of deeply analyzing data with multiple perspectives to prove or indeed disprove myths and hypotheses the business may have about what worked and should be replicated for future success. * The value of really examining my learning on both practical and emotional levels after the completion of the internship - this was an amazing experience at a critical time that helped me formulate my thoughts on the kind of work I find most rewarding.
