Strategic Design Lead
Managing Consultant
Research & Design Capability Lead
I led a Research and Design capability with complex problem-solving as our key value offering, with a specific focus on empathic UXR and co-design. My team of UX Researchers and UX and UI Designers worked collaboratively and creatively. I worked closely with Defence to co-design and build reporting and analysis tools to manage capability, personnel and logistics. I designed and carried out research and co-design strategies for the production of multiple applications for the Australian Navy and Joint Operations Command.
Design Research Facilitator
Design Research Facilitator (Uxr)
I led UXR for Launch Factory, an innovation consultancy specializing in bringing startup culture to established businesses to inform service and product design. In this capacity I ran UXR for SignOnSite, an app for automatic sign-on to construction sites. I designed and carried out research strategies to upgrade the app to focus on the needs of construction workers order to increase adoption and “ease friction at the source”. At the time, the app had 20,000 users; since the upgrade their user base has grown to 300,000+. I carried out interviews with workers on site around Australia to get the insights that we needed, listening to their individual stories and observing their interactions and group culture. I performed quantitative as well as qualitative analysis, giving SignOnSite confidence to design new features leading to successful adoption and significant expansion of its user base.I designed and carried out UXR for Evergen, a solar company established by AMP Capital and CSIRO to create a cloud-based decentralized renewable energy option for households and businesses. After carrying out intensive qualitative customer research I provided a broad spectrum of user profiles and stories to inform UI upgrades and support the company’s successful rollout of Virtual Power Plants.
Community Engagement Facilitator
I have worked with Campfire Co-op and Bega Valley Shire Council, facilitating community engagement to inform strategic planning for a Flying-fox camp at Bega's Glebe Wetlands. I design and run community dialogues and forums for small town future planning, with a focus on sustainability and innovation."Seeking common ground for sustainability in Candelo" (Jan 2017): I designed and ran a kitchen table dialogue template that achieved its desired outcome to create environmental, economic and social statements of common ground."Village Life in the Bega Valley : Mapping the Future, Valuing What We Have - A Deliberative Sustainability Dialogue" (Plan completed Jan 2017): a plan for a two-day workshop designed to bring the Bega Valley's villages together to identify and work toward collective goals.Cobargo Folk Festival forum (Feb 2017) "Where can we tell our stories?". I have designed and facilitated a forum looking at regional voices and how they fit into the national narrative - discussing cultural institutions, broadcasting, and the role of curation in the age of infinite information. My panellists included representatives from ABC Southeast NSW, the National Library of Australia, Bega creative hub The Funhouse and the folk music industry.Candelo Village Festival forum (April 2017): "Imagining Candelo's Future", a community forum inviting local stakeholders to discuss how they envisage the future of the town, and how the community can plan and work together to achieve future goals.
