With a background in Biology and a degree in Biomedical Science, I never in a million years expected to land myself in this industry. At the age of 23 I had been working in the environmental sciences field for about a year and was looking for something more. After a bit of soul searching and a leap of faith I started The Little White Dress, a wedding planning and coordination company based out of Kitchener-Waterloo. It was successful very quickly and I was having a blast. After 3 years of craziness and a lot of weddings under my belt, I had my first son, and my life changed forever. I changed. Things shifted. Time with him became a lot more important to me and I realized that life with little ones wasn’t going to afford me the same availability I’d previously had to meet my clients. Not only that, I didn’t WANT to be away from him multiple nights a week and countless hours on wedding weekends. I had to shift my focus away from the constant influx of weddings and keep my ears open for new opportunities. I am an extroverted introvert and a go-getter who loves a challenge! When the opportunity to leave my previous career and become my own boss - which was multifaceted - became a reality, I jumped. And I have never been more proud or fulfilled.Of all the hats I wear, my favourite is being mom to my two little boys and stepmom to two more! You read that right, we have four little men - ages 3-8 - running around the house. There is nothing more rewarding to me than being truly present with them. I have found a way to create the work-life balance that I had always dreamt of. TIME and MONEY…not one OR the other.
