The Centre now provides opportunities for local school children and communities to experience their natural and cultural heritage first hand.More recently, overseen the development and delivery of a new joint initiative between BBOWT and West Berkshire Council (WBC) Countryside Service whereby a number of sites, including Greenham and Crookham Common, a visitor centre (Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre) and all associated staff transferred from WBC to BBOWT on 6th January 2014.Another major initiative resulted in BBOWT partnering The Crown Estate at Windsor Great Park in order to provide a range of environmental engagement activities; this location being one of Berkshires most iconic and biodiverse. In the first instance the project will run over 5 years, from September 2017, with a full-time officer on-site, running formal (primary) school sessions, family events and junior club activities. -
