Kate is the founder of Bold City Music Co. and a professional musician and music educator of 17 years. She holds a BA from University at Albany, SUNY in violin performance and an MS Music Education from Florida International University. Her academic journey included performing in university orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo performances, and she currently plays electric violin in multiple Jacksonville-based music projects.The purpose of Kate's musical journey is to share music and music education with as many people as she possibly can, a purpose to which she has dedicated her entire professional life, and she is passionate about teaching all of her students to use music as a force for greater good. As a musician, she firmly believes that music performance and music education are equally vital to the strength of both individual musicians and music communities as a whole; her performance career would be superficial without investing in the musicians of tomorrow through teaching, and her teaching career would be uninformed without ongoing performance experiences. Her lifelong professional objective is to ensure that as many students as possible of all ages and abilities have access to quality music education regardless of socioeconomic status. In addition to reaching as many students as possible with high-quality, low-cost music education, she is dedicated to helping musicians and music educators earn a living wage through their craft and strengthening the musician community in Jacksonville.
