I moved to a site-based role at the Francis Crick Institute in July 2015. Here I transitioned into MEP and managed various packages including fire & security systems and environmental cold rooms, mainly focusing on commissioning and testing.Moving to the Bellatrix project in February 2017, I managed specialist laboratory systems packages from concept to completion. This role involved procurement, design coordination, installation, health and safety, and budget management for packages such as autoclaves, down flow tables, safety cabinets / isolators and fumigation systems. Here I expanded my knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with a real focus on laboratory grade systems. I played a key role in the commissioning team, particularly with respect to the integrated systems testing and the fire alarm cause and effect testingSeeking broader experience in building services, I managed the ventilation packages at Brighton 3T’s hospital from March 2019. Since then I have successfully managed the ventilation for a commercial project in London, and I have moved to project Olympia in Kensington as a senior mechanical engineer overseeing mechanical design completion and system installation.I find fulfillment in witnessing projects progress from design to completion, contributing to the delivery of buildings with a positive impact. Notably, the Bellatrix Laboratory Project facilitated COVID-19 testing, highlighting the tangible impact of my work.

Solely responsible for carrying out a number of post-occupancy energy evaluations in healthcare and education buildings. This involved investigating / gathering relevant data and generating reports from scratch on how in-use energy consumption differed from the targets that were set at design stage and statutory regulation requirements. Used the BMS and energy management systems to calculate the ‘out-of-hours’ energy consumption and prove that the ‘in-hours’ energy consumption was within the contractual energy consumption limits.Trusted to carry out a piece of work looking at how to quantify a typical building’s embodied carbon using modern and current digital engineering techniques. Used the prototype apartment building at Explore Industrial Park as a case study to calculate the building’s embodied carbon using the digital model. Also contributed to the development of Laing O’Rourke’s ‘Carbon Calculator’, a piece of software used to determine the embodied carbon of our manufactured products.
