I am currently a junior in the Honors College at Florida State University pursuing majors in Economics and in English with a concentration in Editing, Writing, and Media, as well as minors in Spanish and Data Analytics. I chose to pursue English as I have always loved researching ideas and putting them together to form a coherent essay informing audiences with new information. I learn a lot myself and love sharing new information that I find interesting in hopes of encouraging involvement in the topic with new audiences.The topic I enjoy writing about most is sports. My interest in sports likely comes from my constant participation in playing, watching, and coaching different sports throughout the entirety of my life. Throughout my time at Florida State University, I have written several pieces surrounding, not only sports themselves, but also about different marketing strategies used for different audiences. I love analyzing different media and mechanisms used by teams and organizations and how they change the perception of that team or organization in the audience's eyes.When starting at Florida State University, I immediately wanted to get involved to find my interests, improve my leadership, time management, and teamwork capabilities, and hopefully make a difference during my time in college. The first organization I joined was my sorority. Within this organization, I decided to get involved in several internal leadership positions to help others feel as excited for their years at this incredible university as I do through feeling as though they have a place they belong.Next, I decided to get internally involved in Dance Marathon at FSU, a philanthropic organization that benefits Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and the FSU College of Medicine. I am passionate about the cause of this organization to raise money for sick children and their families and committed to continuing my involvement and leadership in this organization to make a difference in my community. Going into my sophomore year of college, I wanted to increase my involvement further, specifically in ways related to my future career. I applied for the Undergraduate Research Program at FSU and then the Sports Anthropology Project. While working on my research, I gained lots of research skills and furthered my interest in pursuing a career in sports.As I continue my academic and professional career, I look forward to continuing to increase my involvement in writing and sports to develop skills necessary for success in future opportunities.
