I worked as a bagger to cashier to customer service staff in my six years at Publix, mostly part time during school. In my highest position as customer service staff, I was in charge of running the customer service desk, including lottery tickets, money orders, payroll check cashing and helping customers in any way possible.

My first article for the then-St. Petersburg Times was an interview with the national 2009 texting champion. I wrote my second article last year and into the first few months of this year. I pitched the story, arranged photos and interviews, and kept in contact with a copy editor and the business editor until the story was published. My story eventually ran on the front page of the business section.

As vice president of one of the best student chapters in the country, I was responsible for planning and scheduling all of our meetings (we host two general meetings and a social event each month), as well as assisting the president in all organizational duties.
