I am a part of the compliance studies field group that is responsible for collecting a variety of water samples from Alabama Power facilities. We monitor a range of levels that include but are not limited to pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, oxidation-reduction potential, turbidity, conductivity, and temperature. We treat our samples with chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrogen peroxide before submitting the samples for further analysis. I work with a range of equipment that includes aqua troll 600, turbidity meter, light meter, chlorine meter, ISCO pump, geo pump, fume hood, dispensator, pipettes, vacutainers, printers, vehicles, and boats. I am accustomed to working in diverse environments, and I am adept at working independently or in a group setting.

Orange Beach, Alabama, United States

After finishing school, I relocated to the Gulf Coast where I worked for the City of Orange Beach. In this position, I participated in various activities that often had me working in different locations. When working on the beach I was often educating visitors on beach ordinances and working with locals regarding their property concerns. Other times I would be working within the Backcountry trails at the Gulf State Park with habitat development. At the Wind & Water Learning Center, I participated in the preparation end execution of large events, examples include sail camps and BioBlitz. I also performed animal encounters for the Wildlife Center. Additionally, at the department's home office I worked on grants, invoices, social media posts, or other small projects.

Montgomery, Alabama

I obtained a job at Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) which encompassed my major and my three minors. The AWF is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama. I was able to utilize my background to further educate others about Alabama’s ecosystems and sustainability. My responsibilities included: guiding groups on activities that entail animal encounters, guided hikes, skins and skulls presentations, insect roundups, decomposer digs, fishing and aquatic roundups, canoeing and kayaking, track identification, bird watching and nest building, and other educational events

To further my personal growth I acquired a second part time job through the University of Montevallo that is modeled after my studies by becoming an Environmental Education Docent. My duties required me to lead tour groups through environmental facilities such as the community garden, Ebenezer Swamp, and the James Wylie Shepherd Observatory while educating and promoting environmental conservation.

At Cedar Creek Nursery I spent most of my time tending to customer needs and inquiries by completing customer orders of mixed baskets and other porch décor, or designing a general landscape. I also managed the plants by regularly fertilizing, watering, pruning and providing other basic care. In addition, I was tasked with operating a complex watering system, registers, and other equipment as well as applying problem solving skills with people, animals, equipment, and plants. During my time at Cedar Creek Nursery I was also an officer for my high school's Future Farmers of America chapter, and in 2018 I placed fourth in the state for my supervised agriculture experience (SAE) in Nursery Operations.
