Forensic Autopsy and Pathology Services, Inc., provides complete autopsy service to Private Parties, Attorneys, Coroners, Funeral Directors and Hospitals.Marketing the business in 2006 starting with one county to growing it to over 50 counties in Indiana and Southern Illinois in a little over 2 years was quite an accomplishment for me.In recent years I have cut the business back to less than 10 counties as Dr. Griggs, my main Pathologist who is also an Attorney, has decided to pursue more legal cases in his law practice instead of practicing medicine.I handle all calls 24/7, schedule the cases with Pathologist, Coroners, Deputies and Assistants, maintain all the medical reports, help with transcription, gathering of all pertinent past and present medical records and lab results in order to finalize each and every autopsy report.I also assist Dr. Griggs occasionally in performing the autopsy, handling of tissue specimens and other evidence collection and mailing of specimens to the lab.Maintaining a working relationship with many county Prosecutors, Deputy Prosecutors, and Attorneys on scheduling phone conferences, depositions,, pre-trial conferences and trials on our homicide, wrongful death and neglect cases in which Dr. Griggs testifies is another aspect of running this business.It doesn’t end after the case is finalized.Many cases go on for several years.Handling the financial part of this business is my least favorite task.I’m more of a hands on person, and leave most of the business accounting to my Accountant.However, I do maintain log books, billing, paying of bills and handle some accounting while working closely with my Accountant on making business decisions.In my spare time I also assist with managing Dr. Griggs’ law practice.
