I support the DAAC Program Manager in providing program management of the NASA Snow and Ice DAAC contract, ensuring that NASA Earth Science Data and Information System project goals are achieved, that contract requirements are met, and that project outcomes align with NASA management directions and technology evolution.Duties include developing strategy and goals; working with Project Leads to define project goals, deliverables, and timelines and coordination with managers to ensure that projects are appropriately staffed, monitored and running smoothly.

Led team of developers on a $1.36M subcontract working for 18 months with Raytheon on a functional prototype and proposal to build the next generation ground station software for the U.S. Air Force GPS System. Responsible for a significant number of program deliverables including status and tracking reports, financial reports, technical specifications and participation in program reviews. Worked closely with our Exelis team in New Jersey and the Raytheon team in Aurora to architect and develop an enterprise architecture and build the user interfaces for GPS system operators. Successfully implemented an Agile development methodology within the larger context of the waterfall process used on the program. Raytheon was in competition with another system integrator and ultimately won the full program award. Our team was presented with recognition and appreciation certificates upon completion.

Versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the medical product were released during this time, and Engineering also made major releases of both IDL and ENVI, the company’s flagship products. Led a team of 15+ in-house software developers and contractors to create the infrastructure, application software, and data conversion tools for an internet-based library using a distributed architecture. Development included the creation of an appropriate metadata definition, database design, and a user-friendly web interface with e-commerce support. Version 1.0 was launched on schedule and on budget. Responsibilities included personnel management, project planning, schedule and budget management, and status communication across all levels of the organization. Worked with the Marketing team to derive detailed technical requirements, and educated the non-technical executive management team on effective software engineering principles and processes.

Managed in-house software engineers and external consultants developing custom applications for data search and retrieval. Consolidated software written in several programming languages into a C++ library of re-usable components to facilitate rapid, high quality application development. Developed a flexible matrix organization and an adaptable software process in collaboration with the other functional managers.Started as a Business Analyst, working with customers and Sales to define project requirements and technical team to scope projects to requirements, producing detailed proposals and cost estimates.

Provided technical support for OI, a Unix C++ class library and user interface builder. Developed sample applications and test cases, and performed release testing.

Worked with prospects and the Sales team to demonstrate how the features and benefits of XVT products could help them attain their software development goals. The XVT toolkit supported cross-platform application development.

Developed scientific visualization applications in FORTRAN and C++ for the Motif and MS-Windows platforms. Worked on teams from 2 to 12 developers and acted as technical lead on several projects.
