Research AssistantLateral Office Jan 2015 - May 2015Toronto, Canada AreaLateral Office is an experimental design practice that operates at the intersection of architecture, landscape, and urbanism. The studio describes its practice process as a commitment to “design as a research vehicle to pose and respond to complex, urgent questions in the built environment,” engaging in the “wider context and climate of a project– social, ecological, or political.” As a research assistant at Lateral Office I was involved in numerous design and research projects including; the development of a new Canadian tourist route which reinvents the Canadian camping typology, a design competition for a sustainable and vernacular school in northern Mongolia and the layout and management for the Arctic Adaptation exhibition in Winnipeg. My research and analytical skills were greatly improved with the work I completed at Lateral Office, as they expect a rigorous and in depth analysis in their design and research pursuits.
