My journey into design and content commenced with an undergraduate degree in Multimedia Design and flourished further with a graduate diploma in Communication Design. This combination equipped me with a unique and multifaceted skillset covering all aspects of design.The professional chapter of my journey unfolded as the sole in-house designer for a Melbourne-based software startup. This role nurtured my adaptability, allowing me to wear many hats: crafting user interface icons, designing trade show banners, and even delving into packaging design - constantly expanding my technical repertoire. Due to the nature of startups, I collaborated closely with sales managers, SEO experts, and software engineers, gaining valuable insights and experience in their domains. This has contributed significantly to my ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.Simultaneously, I engaged my entrepreneurial spirit by freelancing as an illustrator for renowned clients such as ABC Australia and Moose Toys and becoming part of the Melbourne lowbrow art scene of the early 2000s. This experience honed my artistic talents and ignited a passion for connecting with fellow creatives and sharing knowledge.This passion led me to be a freelance content creator for Envato Tuts+. I also authored a 260-page book for Rockable Press that covers the history and theory of icon design. This eventually paved the way for an exciting transition into the role of a full-time Editor for Envato's VetorTuts+. The experience broadened my horizons by sharpening my writing and management skills and granting me invaluable insights into the design industry and its diverse community.Currently, I'm a Senior Content Specialist at Envato. I collaborate with various departments, such as Content Operations, Product Management, Strategy, Legal, Engineering, and Analytics. My role encompasses 383+ design categories, 16 officially supported design apps, and 52 file types (and counting!). My focus lies in understanding and communicating with the business on the content creation process, technical specifications, process optimisation, design trends, industry evolution, and content opportunities. I also play a crucial role in curating and managing content, focusing on business outcomes and customer expectations.Beyond my professional endeavours, I am an enthusiastic explorer of all things creative. This includes honing my skills in pattern-making for fashion and uncovering innovative applications for digital art in textile design.
