About Kate Mcgregor

I am currently Creative Producer for Valley Arts based in the Chew Valley near Bristol. I produce our year-round events programme and our large-scale community engagement projects. I believe in the power of the arts to delight, inspire and rejuvenate and am interested in improving access to exceptional artistic experiences within rural communities. I have worked nationally and internationally as an award-winning freelance Director, Dramaturg, Playwright and Producer. I achieved 13 years in post as Artistic Director of national touring company, Theatre6, winning the Evening Standard Award for Best New Musical for The Scottsboro Boys. I am the winner of the Salisbury Playhouse Trainee Director bursary and in receipt of a Developing Your Creative Practice grant funded by Arts Council England. Collaborations with range of organisations include: Ambassador Theatre Group (New Wimbledon & Richmond Theatres), Shakespeare Schools Foundation, Shakespeare's Globe Education, Dorchester Community Plays Association, Young Actors Company (WCTT), Green Arts Centre, Boy Blue Entertainment and Matthew Bourne's 'New Adventures'. I was Learning and Development Officer at New Wimbledon Theatre and Arts Engagement and Outreach Officer at The Octagon in Yeovil. I'm a frequent staff director at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School working on the BA Acting strand and MFA Acting course. I have a keen interest in inspiring young actors and championing their voices and talent.
